Grand Exoskeleton Structure with Open and Inviting Space

Min Sheng E. Road Office Tower was awarded the Excellence in Structural Engineering Award in 2000 by the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC). It served as the headquarters of Continental Engineering Corp. (CEC) from 1994 to 2004. The building is compounded fair-faced concrete and steel structure. CEC adopted an innovated engineering construction method by applying the “suspended beam method”. The building is supported by 8 SRC columns at the perimeter up to 13 floors with no interior column for interior space. The steel structure was used above the 13th floor to reduce weight. With a comprehensive intelligent control system, the building’s elevators, lights, temperature, humidity, and air quality can be easily adjusted. The building design takes into account important features of an office environment, allowing occupants to work efficiently and in comfort.
